Drumhowan 5-9, Toome 2-8.
A power packed performance from James McElroy allied to some very astute defending by Dermot McDermott in the latter stages were the hallmarks of this comfortable victory by Drumhowan over Toome in a very entertaining junior championship game in Cremartin on Friday evening last. McElroy got Drumhowan off to the perfect start with a goal in the opening minute and by half-time they had rattled in two more to lead by 3-3 to 0-5 and looking set for a comfortable victory. In the second-half though Toome improved considerably with a goal by Kenneth Wilson in the seventh minute of the second-half kick starting a good period that saw them reduce the deficit to two points approaching the end of the third quarter. By that stage though they had suffered a setback by having goal keeper and Noel Gorman red carded for a striking offence with Drumhowan capitalising on the extra man to good effect to pull away in the final stages hitting two goals and five points as opposed to two points by Toome to win with something to spare.
