Drumhowan had an early start away to Corduff today (Sunday the 28th of August) when they took on the local’s second team. Playing for places in the championship Drumhowan opened the scoring from half forward Mark Mc Cabe. However Corduff scored a goal almost immediately due to a lapse in concentration in the Drumhowan defence. Drumhowan replied within seconds with a cracking goal from Ciarán Duffy.Colm Lambe then opened his account from a free followed up shortly by one from play and Mark Mc Cabe scored another one from a free to leave the score at the end of the first quarter Drumhowan 1-4 Corduff 1-1. The 2nd quarter was a quiet one with no score in the following ten minutes with Dermot Mooney, Aiden Quinn and Mark Mc Cabe kicking three unanswered points in the final 5 minutes to leave Drumhowan 6 points ahead at half time with the score reading Drumhowan 1-7 Corduff 1-1.
Captain Patrick Mulligan came on as a 2nd half at the beginning of the half In the first 7 minutes Drumhowan extended their lead with two points from Ciaran Duffy and Paul Mc Guirk before Corduff opened their account before. Paul Mc Guirk then scored a second. Drumhowan made a number of changes as the game went into the last quarter and Corduff came into the game more and score three points in a row to be 7 points behind going into the last few minutes. Drumhowan upped it for one last time with Colm Lambe and Paddy Mulligan closing the scoring to leave the full time score Drumhowan 1-14 Corduff 1- 5
