Universal Graphics JFC Round 1A
Drumhowan 1-14 Oram 3-7
Drumhowan just did about enough last Friday night the 16th of August in Páirc Grattan Inniskeen to advance to the next round when they beat Oram by a single point after extra time. Despite errors on both sides the supporters present were left on the edge to the bitter end
Drumhowan opened strongly with their opening scores coming from the Quinn Brothers – Patrick hitting the opening point and Owen getting the goal. Drumhowan were in control in the opening 25 minutes leading 1-5 to 0-2 but as the heavens opened so did Oram arrive on the scene scoring 2-2 in a six minute spell with the goals coming from Aidan Ward and sub John Mone to leave them 2-4 to 1-5 ahead at the break.
Colm Lambe opened the scoring in the second half with a free. However for the remainder of the 3rd quarter scores were at a premium with defences on top. Oram took hold of the game at the beginning of the final quarter with Lorcan Keenan scoring Oram’s third goal to give them a 4 point lead. Drumhowan then hit a purple patch hitting the next 3 points in a row before Jason Mc Donald replied for Oram to leave them 2 points ahead entering the final minute of normal time. However Drumhowan were not finished with Colm Lambe and Patrick Quinn hitting points in injury time to put the game into extra time.
With players cramping on both sides scores were hard come by. Pauric Graham and Stephen Irwin put Oram 2 ahead once again before another Colm Lambe left the bare minimum in at haf time in extra time. Pauric Graham was forced to come off and in the second period Oram were left to rue this with Drumhowan sub Ciarán Duffy hitting the equaliser and another Colm Lambe free putting Drumhowan ahead for the first time since the first half. Oram had frees to level and take the lead once again but it wasn’t to be and Drumhowan hung on to win by the narrowest of margins to leave the full time score after extra time Drumhowan 1-14 Oram 3-7
