Drumhowan Once Again In Injury Time

Drumhowan  are back in a Junior Championship Final for the first time in 5 years after a 1 point victory  over Clones  in  the 2019 Junior Semi Final  held in Scotstown  on Sunday last the 22nd of September.

Drumhowan open the game quickly with a Ciarán Duffy point and  started strongly to quickly open a  4 point to 1  lead with a large  amount of possession.  However Clones then had their best spell of the game scoring 1-4  without reply in a 7 minute spell with the goal coming from Colm Connolly.  Colm  Lambe hit the first of his 6 points from frees in reduce the margin but  Clones  hit back with two  to leave it double scores with just over 6 minutes remaining in the half.  The game then took a turn with  Drumhowan scoring 1-5 in the remaining minutes of the half with 1-4 coming from Colm Lambe. James Mealiff replied  for Clones to leave the half time score Drumhowan 1-10 Clones 1-8.

Clones opened the 2nd half quickly with 3 points to go 1 ahead. Colm Lambe then scored from play to level it. He then kicked another two to put Drumhowan  2 points ahead.  Clones were not quitting without a fight  and two points from Darren Freeman and Adrian Alford left it all square  with 10 minutes of normal time left Clones then had an opportunity of a goal but somehow the ball was saved on the line by goalkeeper  Enda Duffy. Daragh Mc Elearney  and Kevin Mooney kicked points and it seemed Drumhowan were on their way but a high ball in  was dropped  and Clones sub Sarto Quigley fired the ball to the net  to put Clones ahead by the minimum going into injury time.  Sub Christopher Mc Ginnity  with his first touch levelled it in  the 1st minute of injury time  and it seemed to be going to extra time with both sides missing chances. However in the 4th minute of injury time goalkeeper Enda Duffy kicked a 45 to put Drumhowan ahead once again with time nearly up. Clones got another chance to draw level  but  the ball dropped short  and Drumhowan cleared their lines and with that Anthony Marron blew the final  whistle.  Drumhowan  as a result are now in their 7th junior  final (6 wins and a draw ) in 2 weeks where they will play near neighbours Blackhill.
