Drumhowan fall at Quarter Final Stage

Universal Graphics JFC Quarter Final

Drumhowan 1-13 Seán Mc Dermotts 1-17

Drumhowan bowed out of the Universal Graphics Junior Championship at the Quarter Final Stage last Sunday 30th August at Páirc Mhuire, Scotstown.  In a high scoring game Seáns  eventually got the upper hand in the final quarter to win by 4 points despite Druhowan registering their highest score of the championship so far.

Drumhowan got off the block quickly with three points by Aiden Quinn two from placed balls and another from open play. Seáns were even quicker in drawing level and then a brace of points were exchanged to leave the score at the water break Drumhowan 0-5 Sean Mc Dermotts 0-5. Aiden Quinn and Joseph Duffy put Drumhowan two ahead once again  but then in the last few minutes of the first half Adam O’ Driscoll got Seáns only goal before  Oisin Mc Kenna put a goal in it.   While the time ticked away both teams point to leave it 1-8 to 0-8 at half time.

Sean Mc Dermotts started the second half in whirl wind fashion with three unanswered points  and  try as they may Drumhowan couldn’t get a grip on the game at this stage of the 2nd half. However this changed very quickly and within a five minute spell they scored an unanswered  1-3, the goal coming from Daragh Mc Elearney  to level it at the end of the quarter  but that was as good as it got as as Drumhowan only managed one other point  in the final quarter  while Sean’s hit five to leave the full time score  Drumhowan 1-13 Sean Mc Dermott’s 1-17.
