Drumhowan Club Notes 20/1/25

 

RIP Kevin – Kevin Mc Cabe was a star of the Drumhowan senior team from the late 1950’s to the late 60’s even though for a lot of this time he was living in England. Last Friday 17th January he passed away peacefully in Cavan Hospital.  Drumhowan would like to offer its sympathy to his sister Ann, his brother Brendan, sister-in-law Kathleen, nephew Shane, sister-in-law Marie, brother-in-law Gerry, nieces, nephews and extended family.  For more details please visit https://drumhowan.gaa.ie/kevin-mc-cabe-rip/ 

National Club Draw 2025 – the club are once again taking part in this. Tickets are priced at €15 are available from any club executive member or senior player. Bingo – next bingo will take place on Friday 14th February.

Dinner Dance   – the JFC winning team will receive their medals at this.  This will be taking place in the Hillgrove Hotel Monaghan on Saturday 8th March. Tickets will be available in February.

Irish Life Every Step Counts Challenge is back.  – Drumhowan GAA are delighted once again to take part in the Irish Life Every Step Counts challenge in partnership with the GAA Community & Health department.   This challenge is in support of club and community members getting active in January and February.  This commenced 2 weeks ago and will continue until Wednesday 12th February. Full details on how to register are available on the website. If registered from previous year, please go straight to the Irish Life App. Even though the challenge has commenced 2 weeks ago it’s still not late to join as every step counts As a club, we have to reach at least 4000km.

CE Worker Vacancy  Drumhowan GAA club and Community Group have a vacancy for a cleaner – caretaker at the Community Centre and dressing rooms so a job mostly based indoors. The hours are 19.5 per week and you are on the Community Employment Program. Eligibility to participate in the CE scheme is generally linked to being over 21 years old and also being in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for one year or more. Anyone interested contact Gerry Finnegan or any committee member.

Gaelic Life Ulster Club All Stars in association with Mc Keever Sports– Killian Mc Adam has been shortlisted in the full back line for the Gaelic Life Ulster Club All Stars Men’s Football Team of the year. Well done Killian. Please get voting for Killian this Thursday when voting opens!

Bon Voyage – a week after accepting his Junior All Star Conor Curran jetted off to Spain as part of his university studies where he will reside for 6 months before heading to France. We wish him good luck and look forward to seeing him play in the full back line in the near future.

Congratulations to our club DLP John Reilly who completed his 100th Park Run in Castleblayney last Saturday 18th January.
