Platinum Tanks RFL Div 1B – Last Saturday we took on fellow parishioners Ballybay. After a bright start with a goal in the first few minutes we fell away badly and were under severe pressure for the remainder of the game. However there were glimpses of potential and an improvement from the first 2 games was noticeable. The full time score was Drumhowan 1 – 2 Ballybay 2 – 13 The next game in the competition is away to Castleblayney, who open their new stand this weekend at their Senior league Game with Scotstown, on Wednesday 23rd April at 7.30pm
Mc Elvaneys Recycling MFL Div 1 – Our minors opened their league campaign against Scotstown in Ballybay on Tuesday 1st April. After a good first half Scotstown gained the upperhand and ran away in the second half. The full time score was St Patrick’s 2 – 11 Scotstown 3 – 23. Last Tuesday 8th April they were due to meet Donaghmoyne but due to a school excursion were unable to field. Next game will be at home in Ballybay to Monaghan Harps on Tuesday 15th April at 7.15pm.
Gerry’s Prepared Veg U16 Div 1 The U 16s started their campaign with an away defeat to Corduff. The full time score was St. Patricks 1 – 3 Corduff 5 – 14 The next game takes place tonight ( Thursday 10th April ) away again to Donaghmoyne this time with a 6.30pm throw in.
Gerry’s Prepared Veg U14 Div 3 – Last Saturday 5th April the u 14s took on an older and more experienced Doohamlet side in O’ Neill Park. They played catch up for most of the game but at the end of the 3rd quarter were a point up. However in the final quarter a few slack goals put the entertaining game beyond doubt leaving the full time score Doohamlet 7 – 15 to Drumhowan 7 – 9. The bare 11 who took the field were Niall Markey, Gerard Quinn, Caolán Reilly, Cormac Duffy, Darragh Mc Elearney, Daniel Tomany, Patrick Quinn, James Mc Adam, Shay Treanor, Aodhán Brennan and Mark Tomany. The next game in the competition is another away one in Corduff on Saturday 19th April.
Gerry’s Prepared Veg U12 Spring League Zone F The U12s take on Clontibret this Saturday 12th April at 12 noon away from home.
Training continues on Mondays and Thursdays at 7pm for U12 and U14s
Under 8 – This side will have their first game of the season when they travel to Clontibret to take on the locals on this Saturday morning. All players to be in Clontibret for 10am and they will be finished by 11.30. Times will be confirmed by text later in the week.
Coaching for our Under 6 and 8 players, where the emphasis is on having fun and getting active, will continue on Monday evenings from 7-8pm out on the pitch. New boys and girls always welcome. We have had great turnouts since training has recommenced so keep up the good work. We would also appreciate if some parents could stay on and offer to help out the odd night.
Farney Academy Easter Camp.
Monaghan Coaching and Games Development will be running their annual 3-Day Easter Camp for both boys & girls between the 22nd and 24th of April in Pearse Park Ballybay between 10am to 2-30pm. Cost of the camp is €40 per child & €35 for additional children from the same family.The camp caters for boys and girls aged between 5-12 with a wide range of fun games and activities delivered at each camp with Gaelic Football, Hurling and Camogie being at the core of every activity. You can download a form on the Monaghan GAA website and please return your application form to Paul O’ Connor in Cloghan on or before the Thursday the 17th of April.
Go Games Referee – We are looking for referees for the Go Games Under 8/10. Each club must supply at least 2 referees. You must be over 14 and you will recieve €15 per blitz. Anyone interested contact Donal Mc Adam,
Go Games 2014 – Both our U 8 and U 10 teams will have 9 blitzes this year. The first blitz for under 10’s takes place on Saturday April 19th at 10am in Sean Mc Dermotts and the U 8’s begin their campaign the following Saturday at the same venue.
