Universal Graphics JFC  Drumhowan commenced their 2016 Championship Campaign last Friday 3rd of June  with a  2-11 to 1-8 Preliminary Round victory  over Aghabog in Shamrock Park, Cremartin.

Aghabog open the scoring with  a Ciaran Logue free but Mark Mc Cabe wasn’t long in replying with a pointed free.  Ciaran Duffy scored the 1st of his 2 goals in the  the 8th minute.  However Aghabog drew level once again in the 16th minute  with a point from Sean O Brien. However that was as good as it got as another goal from Ciaran Duffy in the 23rd minute  and a free from Kieran Mooney left the  half  time score Drumhowan 2-5  Aghabog 0-7.

Drumhowan made a quick start to the 2nd half with 3 unanswered points to leave 7 in it. Aghabog made a brief comeback with a another pointed free  and a Fergal O Hanlon goal in the 11th minute. In fact 6 points of Aghabog’s  total came from frees. That proved to be their final score with  Drumhowan only scoring another 3 points in the final 20 minutes two of these coming from  sub Colm Lambe. That left a goal and three points in it at the final whistle with  the full time scoreline Drumhowan 2-11 Aghabog 0-8.

They now go on to meet  Toome in the 1st round proper which at this point is scheduled for the  Sunday 19th of June but  this is subject to change as Monaghan Hurlers are also down to play that day.
