The Late Brendan Duffy – just as I was finishing off the notes from last week I got the phone call to say that Brendan had been found dead. Even though Brendan had been diagnosed with his illness in early Autumn 2011 and that it had returned in recent months his death has certainly stopped us all in our tracks. Brendan played senior football with the club in the late nineties and early years of this century mainly lining out in the corner back position but on occasion advancing out to wing back. Since then he along with the rest of his family helped out at club and community events on a regular basis. At this point the Club would like to offer its sympathy to his wife  Vivienne, daughters Chloe, Emma, Hollie, Kellie and Sophie, son Tadgh Hugh, parents Hughie and Rose, sisters Margaret and Catheriona, brothers Seamus and Joe, mother in-law Marion, brothers in-law, sisters in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, god-children and large circle of  family and friends.

Platinum Tanks RFL Div 2 A – due to death of Brendan  both of our scheduled games last week were postponed.  Thanks to both the Seáns and Rockcorry Clubs for agreeing to our request. The Rockcorry game has now been refixed for this Thursday night the 9th of April at 7pm in Drumhowan.  The next scheduled game at this point is not till the 6th of May as the Seniors now start a run of games.

Monaghan Electrical IFL –  The Cremartin game scheduled for this Sunday has now been moved to next Wednesday 15th April in Drumhowan at 7.15pm

MFL Div 1 – last Tuesday 31st March game v Magheracloone was postponed. Tuesday night’s game  v Carrickmacross took place in Drumhowan while next Tuesday 14th April there is an away game to  Scotstown at 7pm.

Gerry’s Prepared Veg  U14 Div 2 Championship – We lost to Emyvale in the championship on Thursday evening last. FT Score  was Drumhowan 2- 3  Emyvale 3 – 12   It was a night where little went right on the night. It was played 15 a side on a full adult pitch so we had to call on a number of younger players to make up a team. We now must get back to the training pitch to prepare for the remainder of the league. Next game is against Donaghmoyne in a few weeks time.

Gerry’s Prepared Veg Under 12 Spring League Zone E  – Drumhowan 0-15 Truagh 0-14  We had a one point win over Truagh on Saturday last in the Spring League. This was an excellent game between two very evenly matched teams. Drumhowan were on top in the first half but Truagh came back strong in the second period and went ahead with a few minutes left. However two late scores from Daire Sheridan and James Mc Adam clinched the win in what was an overall very good team performance. Next up is a home game to Clontibret on Saturday 18th April.

Under 8/10 – We travelled to Doohamlet on the bank holiday Monday to take on the locals at both Under 8 and Under 10 level. Played in glorious sunshine both teams played some excellent football. Our under 8 side have showed considerable improvement from last season and the hard work they have been putting in is showing. Our under 10 side also put in a quality performance with some great moves and scores . The first Go Games Blitz for under 10 takes place in Sean Mc Dermotts on this Saturday 11th April. All players should be in Threemilehouse for 9-40am . The Blitz will finish at 12. Our under 8 side first blitz takes place on Saturday week in the same venue. Remember to keep practicing your skills every day.

Well done to Mark Tomany, Caolan Reilly and James Mc Adam who all played at half time in Clones on Sunday last during the Monaghan v Dublin game.

Training for all juvenile teams continues on Monday evenings at 7pm.

Good Luck – to the Monaghan Team who take on Dublin in the Allianz Div 1 League Semi Final this Sunday 12th April in Croke Park at 4pm. Please check the Monaghan Website for full details on tickets. Remember to buy early to receive €5 discount on adult tickets.
