IFL: Inniskeen 2-13, Drumhowan 1-11. This proved to be a very disappointing game on Sunday last in which Drumhowan played catch up throughout. Scorers included D. Millar 1 point, N. Mooney 1 point, K. Mooney 1 point, K. Duffy 1 point, M. Mc Cabe 1 point, C. Lambe 1-5.
Minors – St Pats defeated Latton in the final league game last week on a score line of 3-11 to 3-5. This puts them in a three way playoff for a semi-final spot. They play Killanny in Cremartin on Wed August 8th at 7.15 in the playoff.
U-16s – St Pats 2-6, Scotstown 2-11 – St Pats were defeated by Scotstown in the league last week. Next league game is at home to Carrickmacross on August 15th. The replay of the championship final will take place on August 22nd in Aughnamullen. There will be a lot of hard work to be done on the training pitch in the coming few weeks.
U-14s – Next game is at home to Rockcorry on August 13th.
U-12s – This week pride of place has to go to this squad who had a very busy week with 3 games in six days and 3 wins in Div 1b. They defeated Truagh away and then Emyvale at home on Tuesday night. They then took on Inniskeen on Thursday night and recorded a one point win after a very exciting game. It took some excellent saves by our keeper Philip Mc Shane and a goal in the last minute of normal time by James Mc Adam to seal the victory. Despite an injury time goal by Inniskeen to reduce the deficit to the minimum we held out for the win. Next up in the league is Ballybay away on 15th August. There may be a challenge game this Saturday morning before we all head to Croke Park.
U-8s &10s – We headed off on the bus on Saturday morning last with 28 players to play Cootehill at both under 8 and under 10 level. Our under 10 team had a very competitive game against the locals with Drumhowan emerging winners with a goal and a few points to spare. We fielded a very young under 8 side with a few players making their debut in the blue and gold. This team also ran out deserving winners after a very enjoyable game and morning’s football. Thanks to Cootehill for the game and well done to our players for turning out in such numbers. With us now having taken care of the Cavan challenge it’s off to Armagh in a few weeks for another game – Watch this space! Our under 8 team has a Go Games blitz on Saturday August 10th and Under 10 on August 24th.
U-6s/8s/10s – There will be no training for under 6/8/10 on this bank holiday Monday.
Good Luck – Best of luck to both Monaghan senior and minor teams in their Quarter final games over the weekend.
