Drumhowan Club Notes 26/2/13

Reserve Football League- Drumhowan’s first league fixture is at home to Truagh this Sunday 3rd March at 12 noon.

Scor na nOg All-Ireland Winners- Drumhowan Musical Group of Finbarr Brennan, Eimear Quinn, Conor Quinn, Stephen Mc Mahon, Colm Mc Mahon were declared All-Ireland Champions of the Musical Group section of Scor na nOg in Derry last weekend.  The Musical Group who were representing their Club, County and Province gave a fine rendition of their 2 pieces and had the audience tapping and clapping along with them.   The many supporters who travelled to Derry with the Group gave them a warm welcome on stage and were loud in their support of the Group when they finished; but it was nothing to the applause and cheers when they were announced winners.    Winning an All-Ireland is no mean achievement and the group are to be congratulated on this fine win.  The All-Ireland winners were greeted at Tullycorbet Community Centre on their return home by well-wishers from the Club and Tullycorbet Community Development Association who laid on a joint celebration party. David Hurson, Tommy Mc Ardle, Gerry Finnegan and Pauline Grogan speaking on behalf of the Club paid tribute to the Group and their tutor, Francis Mc Mahon who had brought the first All-Ireland title to the Drumhowan.   Pauline Rooney, County Scor Committee added her   congratulations, reminding the Group that they had joined a very elite group of All-Ireland winners from Co Monaghan and their names and the Drumhowan Club would go down in history on this honours list.   Members of the Musical Group and Francis wish to thank all who supported them at each of the competitions, those who travelled to the All-Ireland Final with them and all those who sent messages of support.  They were especially touched by the welcome home party and thanked the Drumhowan Club and Tullycorbett Community Development Association for the welcome food they laid on for them and their supporters.  Congratulations are also extended to Colm Kirke, Clones on winning the Recitation Section with his poem “The Cross Eyed Monaghan Hurler”.
