Eurotech Junior Football  League Shield Rd 4 Drumhowan 2-18 Killeevan 0-13
Drumhowan recorded a high scoring victory last  Saturday evening in Páirc Mhic Eoin when they overcame the visitors by 11 points.  The 1st quarter remained quite tight with only a point in it after 15 minutes. However Drumhowan pulled away in the 2nd quarter with Michael Atkinson scoring a goal just before the half time whistle to leave the half time score Drumhowan 1-10 KIlleevan 0-6.  In the first quarter of the second half  both teams exchanged points with Noel Smith the chief score maker for the visitors kicking numerous frees. So with only 15 minutes left there was still 7 in it – Drumhowan  1-14 Killeevan 0-10. However  Drumhowan upped their performance  to outscore the west Monaghan club  1-4 to 0-3  the goal coming from Mark Mc Cabe.

As a result of this victory they now qualify for the shield final with one game in hand. Their final game before the final is against Scotstown at this point scheduled for October 2 but this is likely to change. The opposition in the final  will either be Aghabog or Killeevan on  Saturday 15th October.
 
Gerry’s Prepared Veg U14 Div 3 Final –  The U14 side face Aughnamullen in the League final on this Saturday in Doohamlet at 2pm. Best of luck to the panel and management of Anthony Brennan, Sean Smith and Barry Tomany. Again we ask for our supporters to come out and support the team.
 
U11 BC Emyvale Tournament -The U11’s took part in this tournament on Saturday morning last. In the group stages they drew with Monaghan Harps and had wins over Clones and Rock From Tyrone. In the knockout phase they lost by a point to Fintona of Tyrone where some missed chances cost  a win. Well done to all the players and big thanks to Emyvale for their hospitality on the day.
U10 – The U10s  had a useful challenge game against Doohamlet on Monday evening in Drumhowan. Played over 3 periods of 15 minutes both teams played some excellent football . On Saturday morning 1st October we take part in a tournament in Monaghan Harps.
Our Ladys Blitz –  Pupils in 6th class have a blitz in our Lady’s Secondary School in Castleblayney on Saturday morning 1st October.
 
U10 Drumhowan Tournament –  The  Club are running their own Under 10 tournament on Saturday Oct 8th commencing at 10.30am. The cup for this tournament has been kindly donated in memory of the late Dan Markey who played for Drumhowan by his family. On the day there will be  eight clubs from Monaghan, Cavan and Longford competing for both the cup and shield. Help will be needed on the day out around the pitches and in the kitchen and catering. Anyone who wishes to donate food or bake anything for the day would be much appreciated.
 
Monday training for U10/12 teams continues starting at 6-45 and over at 7-45.
All Ireland Breakfast Morning  –  The Club and Community Group would like to thank all who contributed  towards a successful breakfast morning on Sunday last the 18th of September. All proceeds will be going to Ballybay Cancer Society.  Full details of sponsors will appear in Drumhowan Around the Villages.
