Club Notes 2/1/24

Happy New Year to all players, members, and supporters.

Annual Vehicle Run will take place this Sunday, 7 January, at Drumhowan Community Centre.  Registration opens at 11.30am and departure at 1pm.  We also have a junior children’s run this year at 12.45pm so they can bring a toy tractor, car or bike to take part in the fun.  Refreshments and raffles afterwards at the Community Centre.  Please check out our Facebook and Instagram for further details and route info.  Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Congratulations to Conall Duffy and Niamh Markey on their wedding last weekend.  We wish you the very best for your future together.

Club Draw tickets will be distributed this weekend and available for purchase – €10 each.  Prizes include a brand-new car, €10k cash prize and various GAA ticket packages.  Draw takes place on 27 March.  All monies raised stay in the club which is needed more than ever.

Recent Deaths
Our dearest sympathies to Anne and Peter Duffy on the passing of Anne’s brother, Liam McQuaid (Irvinestown), in December.  May he rest in peace.

Irish Life Every Step Counts & Ireland Lights Up 2024

Drumhowan GAA are delighted once again to launch the ‘Irish Life Every Step Counts’ challenge in partnership with the GAA Community & Health department.  After such great numbers in 2023 we are looking forward to many people returning this year.  This challenge is in support of club and community members getting active in January and February.  It will run over 5 weeks, commencing from Monday 8 January to Monday 12 February (inclusive).
This year we will also integrate ‘Ireland Lights Up’ as part of the step challenge.  Each Wednesday from 10 January to 14 February (inclusive), the lights for the club grounds will be turned on between 7-8.30pm.  All members of the community are encouraged to meet up and walk together.  Hopefully this year will be the last year of walking on the grass as the club have submitted a Sports Capital Grant Application for the Walking Track and should know by late Spring / early Summer if the application has been successful.  With the grant and money saved from the OsKaRs a few years back, the project should be able to proceed.

Please check out the club website or social media for full details on how to partake and register.
