On Sunday Drumhowan once again kept their best form for the championship and led from beginning to end with our first score coming from Kevin Mooney in the 4th minute and the final from Colm Lambe in the 27th minute of the 2nd half. Other scores in the 1st half were Colm Lambe who scored a goal from the penalty spot the only Drumhowan score from a placed ball throughout the game. Other scorers in the 1st half were David Millar and Anthony Mulligan with a point each and Aidan Duffy with 2 points the second to close the scoring for the first half to leave the score at half time Drumhowan 1-5 Augnamullen 0-2
David Millar opened the scoring in the 7th minute of the 2nd half after Michael Atkinson had replaced Darren Duffy who went off injured.Before the next Dumhowan score from Colm Lambe Conor Duffy replaced Niall Mooney who left the field on a black card. Aidan Duffy then chipped in with his 3rd point before Kevin Mooney scored his 2nd. Half way through the 2nd half Drumhowan had increased their lead to 7 points. Then in 25th minute Aidan Duffy capped a good performance to score Drumhowan’s 2nd goal and put the game beyond Aughnamullen’s reach. Colm Lambe finished off Drumhowan’s scoring to leave the full time score Drumhowan 2 – 10 Aughnamullen 0 – 6. We will now play Blackhill in the final on the 28th of September. Plenty of league games in the meantime.

Mc Elvaneys Recycling MFL Div 1 –  St. Patricks final game of their campaign was against Killanny on Tuesday 12th August last. They secured their first win of the year when they defeated Killanny. The Full time score was Killanny 2- 8 St. Patrick’s 2 – 11.  The club would like to thank all the players for their effort throughout the year and the management of Martin Duffy, Gavin Sheridan, Enda Monaghan and Colm Duffy for all their hard work.

 
Gerry’s Prepared Veg U16 Div 1 – The U-16s play Truagh at home in Drumhowan on Thursday 21st August ( tonight) in their final league game.

Gerry’s Prepared Veg U14 Div 3 -Due to other events the U14s were forced to concede  their league game against Clontibret. They will now play in the shield semi final in a few weeks.

 

Gerry’s Prepared Veg U12 Div 2A – Our U12s had a good semi final victory over near neighbours Aughnamullen last Tuesday 12th August in Páirc Mhic Eoin. The full time score was Drumhowan 4 – 10 Aughnamullen 3 – 6. Team and Panel was Mark Tomany, Orla Brennan, Gerard Quinn, Éimear Quinn, Ruadhán Curran, Lee Treanor, Aodhán Brennan, Lorcan Mooney, Shay Treanor, James Mc Adam,  Lorna Mc Guirk., Cillian Mc Adam, David Barry, Dáire Sheridan, Jason Clarke, Sinéad Duffy, Tristan Duffy, Pete Mc Guirk, Conor Finnegan and Ciarán Keenan . They will now take on Cremartin in the final on Saturday 30th August in Castleblayney.

 

Under 8 & 10  –  We travel to Latton on this Saturday morning for challenge games at both under 8 and under 10 level against the hosts. Can all players be in Latton for 10.15 am sharp and they will be finished by 11.45am. Again we need all players to attend as there will be three games going at the one time.

Under 10 –  We have been invited to take part in a tournament in Gowna in Co Cavan on Saturday 6th September.

Under 8 – We had fellow parionshers and neighbours Ballybay out in Drumhowan on Monday evening last for a challenge game and the first trial for St Pats minors for 2024. There was 2 games going at the one time so all youngsters got game time. Both teams played some great football and kept the spectators entertained with some excellent passages of play. Well done to all and to the ref Patrick Dufy who kept firm control on the proceedings.

 

Sympathy – the club would like to offer sympathy to Gerry and Breda Duffy on the death of Breda’s brother Larry who was buried yesterday, Wednesday 20th August.

 

Congratulations – to Gerard Quinn who played at half time in the Monaghan v Dublin – All Ireland Quarter Final.  Also to Éanna Curran and Patrick Duffy who took part in the National Finals of the Community Games in Athlone last weekend in swimming and art respectively. Finally we had many members completing in the Fleadh in Sligo. Medal winners were Aodhán Brennan who came 1st in the U12 Céilí Band Drums. Colm Mc Mahon secured 3rd in the U15 Flute  and 2nd in the U15 accordion. Conor Quinn  came 1st in the U15 Céilí Band Drums. Niall Grogan, Lorna Mc Guirk, Annmarie Lavelle and Orlaith Brennan came 3rd in th U12 8 hand céilí dancing. Stephen  Mc Mahon and Tomasina Mc Ginnity came 1st in the U18 8 hand céilí dancing mixed and 2nd in the U18 4Hand céilí dancing mixed. Also good luck to those competing in this weekend events in Athlone.
