Eurotech JFL Shield Final – The curtain will come down on the football year this Saturday 25th Of October when the seniors will take on Aghabog in Aughnamullen with a 4pm throw in. We urge everyone to come out and support the team. While it mightn’t be the final the club hoped to be in at the beginning of the year it’s still a final so make sure to be there.
Dan Markey U10 Tournament – Last Saturday 15th of October the 2nd U10 tournament took place. Teams taking parts were Magheracloone, Cremartin. Latton, Castleblayney, Doohamlet, Butlersbridge(Cavan) Killoe(Longford) and ourselves. After the group stages the cup and shield semi finals took place. In the cup Killoe took on Cremartin and Butlersbridge were up against Magheracloone.
In the shield Drumhowan took on near neighbours Doohamlet and Latton met Blayney.
The two teams from outside the county Killoe and Butlersbridge took part in Dan Markey Cup Final Killoe emerged victorious due to their superior goal getting.
In the Shield final Drumhowan took on Blayney and while the home side scored more points Blayney proved that bit more stronger and were able to get their scores a lot easier and emerged the winners at the final whistle.
Afterwards in the hall Killoe joint captains were presented the Dan Markey Cup by the Dan’s wife Lily while Tommy Mc Ardle Mc Ardle presented the shield to the winning Blayney Captain.
The club would like to thank all the competing clubs for taking part and the 4 referees for taking charge of the games. We are also grateful for those who coordinated the games on the 4 four pitches and all those who helped out in the kitchen. Thanks to all the members and parents who provided food. Also the club are extremely grateful to Gerry Quinn who sponsored the sausages and Drury’s Centra who sponsored the bread rolls Here’s hoping next year has better weather.
