ULSTER CHAMPIONS ONCE AGAIN
Congrats and well done to our Scór na nOg team Instrumental Group who captured a well deserved 4th in a row Ulster Title in Silverbridge this evening.(see photo attached) Well done to the oldies of Colm Mc Mahon, Finbarr Brennan and Conor Quinn who now have 4 Ulster Medals in their back pocket. Also well done to the newcomers of Daniel Tomany and Cáit Brennan. A big Bualadh Bos to tutor Francis Mc Mahon. They now go to represent Club, County and Province in the All Ireland Final in Killarney on the 30th of January. Joining them in the 4.5 hour road trip will be the Quiz team of Colm Mc Mahon, Finbarr, Cait and Aodhan Brennan. Commiserations to the Set Dancing girls of Christina Sherry, Aine Grogan, Sinead Grogan, Megan Treanor, Lauren Duffy, Blinne Treanor and Angie Mc Guirk who narrowly lost out. Thanks to the tutors Angela Mc Cabe and Pauline Grogan. Hard luck also to Truagh Ballad Group and Caitriona Sherlock, Scotstown who competed in the Solo Singing.

National Club Draw Tickets – Remember to sell all 10 tickets. Dust them down if you haven’t sold any yet. People are coming home for Christmas and visiting – just ask them. A €10 Christmas dinner is a cheap one! This will help with our affiliation fees at the start of the new year. First Prize is an Opel Corsa Car. Other prizes include a trip to the 2016 All Stars, a travel voucher to the value of €1500, various all ireland football and hurling final ticket packages and €1000 shopping vouchers. Congratulations –to two of our playing members who won Ulster and All Ireland Medals in the past 2 weeks . On Tuesday 1st December Aiden Quinn won a Higher Education All Ireland Div 2 Medal with St. Pats Drumcondra when they defeated NUI Galway.Then on Thursday 3rd December U14 player Aodhan Brennan won a Corn na nÓg Medal with St Macartan’s when they beat St. Pats Maghera. Co. Convention – on Thursday the 3rd of December club man Gerry Duffy, Drumgrole completed his 5 year tenure as Ulster Council delegate for the Co. Board. The club would like to wish him all the best in his retirement. Fellow Club men Padraig Sherry, John Mc Ardle and Noel Duffy will once again serve as Chairman, Children’s Officer and PRO respectively.
After Schools Football – After Christmas this will be starting in for 5th Class Boys in the Mid Region which includes Scoil Éanna, Castleblayney and Loughmourne amongst others. Information about the programme has been sent to all the relevant schools. This will take place on four Thursday evenings in Our Lady’s Secondary School, Castleblayney and the sessions will be taken by Monaghan Coaching and Games Staff.The closing date for registration on the programme is this Friday the 18th of December. There is no charge for taking part in the After School Football programme. This is a great way to get all players active early in January before the season commences. Contact your school for application forms.
