Eurotech Junior Football Shield Final – at the time of writing this final is now taking place on Saturday 22nd of October v Aghabog with a 4pm throw in. Venue still to be confirmed.
U13 Blitz – The U13’s took part in this 7 a side blitz in Cloghan on Monday evening last the 10th of October. The team had games against Inniskeen, Clontibret, Monaghan Harps and Latton but narrowly lost the first three matches before winning the last match against Latton.
U11 – The U11s had a good match in Donaghmoyne on Saturday morning last. Despite being short a number of regulars the younger members of the team put on a good performance in the last outing of the season for this group.
U10 Dan Markey Tournament – This Saturday the club hosts their own Under 10 tournament with eight clubs taking part. The action kicks off at 10.30am and the finals of the cup and shield should be finished shortly after 1pm. Again helpers are needed on the day on the pitches and in the kitchen catering for the teams. Anyone who can make sandwiches, buns etc – if you could bring them along it would be appreciated. All Drumhowan players should be at the pitch for 9.50am. This event will conclude the juvenile season. At this stage the club would like to thank the family of the late Dan Markey especially his wife Lily for sponsoring the trophy for this tournament.
Monday Juvenile Training – This has now finished up for the season. A big thanks to all players who turned up in great numbers each week since the first week of February. Thanks also to team coaches Brendan Treanor, Aidan Doherty, Cormac Duffy and Donal Mc Adam who give up their time in order to help the children improve their football skills. Remember to keep practising and active over the Winter months.
Universal Graphics JFC Final – at this stage the club would like to thank all the volunteers who helped steward at the final last Sunday from parking the cars, directing the traffic, working the shop, selling the programmes, making the tea, operating the scoreboard. Over 50 people who helped out on the day. 1,500 people were present on the day. One of our own even presented the cup! A big thanks however must go to Michael Mooney and Jimmy Mc Shane who had the field and the surrounds in such excellent condition.
Congratulations – of course massive congratulations to Blackhill on capturing the Packie Boylan Cup and the Junior Football Championship for the first time since 1952. All the hard work eventually paid off. Hopefully now after the celebrations they will continue and go all the way in Ulster!!
Congratulations also to former senior player Damien Mc Ginnity and his wife Fiona on the birth of their son Daithí who was born in London at the end of September.
