Awards and Presentation Night – took place last Saturday night the 8th of February. Approximately 200 people sat down for a delicious dinner which was provided by Mc Entee Catering of Crossmaglen. Co Board guest was Marion Donnelly who presented the JFC Winning Panel with their medals. She also presented the double All Ireland Winning Scor na nOg Instrumental Group with a small token of the club’s appreciation of their achievements. Dympna Mulligan presented the married Couples with meal vouchers and flowers. They were Elaine and Gavin Sheridan, Caitriona and Mac Lambe, Claire and Christopher Mc Ginnity and finally Carmel and Eoin Conlon. unable to attend on the night were Colm and Rosie Hanratty and Lorraine and Mickey Farnan. Mary Duffy and Grainne Duffy also received bouquets for their work. Finally Gerry Finnegan presented the All -Star 1953 -2013 team with their awards The team was as follows Tommy Mc Ardle, Gerry Woods, Brendan Connolly RIP(represented by his wife Monica) Sean Mooney, Charlie Caulfield, Mick Forde RIP (represented by his niece Sinead Doherty), Stephen Brennan, Patsy Duffy RIP ( represented by his brother Peter), Dermot Mc Dermott, Kevin Mc Cabe, Mark Daly, Francie Ward, Stephen Mc Ginnity, Jemmy Markey and James Mc Elroy. Unavailable to attend on night were Mark Daly, Francie Ward and Jemmy Markey.
All Ireland Scór na nÓg Final. – the week has finally arrived. This Saturday our Quiz team and Instrumental Group will represent our Club and County in the All Ireland Final. The quiz will commence at 11.30am and we will be represented by Patrick Duffy, Finbar Brennan, Colm and Stephen Mc Mahon. Later on in the afternoon the Instrumental Group of Conor Quinn, Finbar Brennan, Colm and Stephen Mc Mahon and Thomasina Mc Ginnity will attempt to win a recording breaking 3 in a row All Ireland Titles. Good luck to one and all. All the action this year will take place in the City West Dublin. A bus will depart Tullycorbet at 9am Saturday morning. Under 14 – Training continues on Sat at 4pm. All players are reminded to keep doing their exercises as instructed. The first Pitch session will be next Monday evening and will start at 7pm sharp and finish at 8.10pm. This squad will be managed this season by Anthony Brennan, Sean Smyth and Barry Tomany. They will compete in Division 2 this season so a lot of work required before the action commences.
Under 12 – First session for this group will take place next Monday evening Feb 16th again from 7pm to 8.10 pm on the pitch. This team will be managed by Anthony Brennan, Barry Tomany, Donal Mc Adam and Aidan Doherty.
Under 10- We had two teams in the Blitz in Ballybay on Saturday last. This continues for the next three Saturdays and all players are asked to be in Ballybay Recreation Centre for 9.15am on Saturday morning next and they will finish at 11.25am. All Under 10 players also start training on the pitch on Monday evening next 16th at 7pm. This group will be managed by Aidan Doherty and Donal Mc Adam in the season ahead.
Under 6/8 – Workshop takes place on Monday 16th Feb in Cremartin Hall for a 7.30pm start. All coaches with this group are asked to attend.
Club Juvenile Presentation and Registration night will take place Sunday 22nd February starting at 6.30pm where light refreshments will be served . We will have medals to present to last seasons successful under 12 and under 14 sides as well as our Scor winners and we hope to have a special guest in attendence. All underage players including under 6’s 8′s, 10′s, 12′s, 14′s, 16′s and 18′s must register and pay their club membership. All players and parents will be expected to turn up and indeed any new parents and players are also very welcome to attend. It is important to remember that all juvenile players must be registered to train or play any games to be covered under the GAA insurance scheme. We will also be accepting adult membership on the night and club treasurer John Reilly will be present and will gladly accept your annual Friends of Drumhowan subscription.
