Eurotech Junior Football League
Drumhowan 1-5 Sean Mc Demotts 0-7
Sunday 14th April 2024
Drumhowan opened their league campaign with a hard earned win over the 2023 Intermediate team Sean Mc Dermotts. In a low scoring game at a very showery Páirc Mhic Eoin a youthful Drumhowan team picked up 2 league points with a second half penalty scored by Joseph Duffy proving the difference.
In a low scoring first half Aodhan Brennan opened the score with a 1st minute point but Seans replied soon afterwards but a Aiden Quinn free put Drumhowan ahead once again before Killian Mc Adam finished the 1st quarter scoring to leave it 0-3 to 0-1. Seans then kicked two points in quick succession to leave it all square after 19 minutes and a point by Gerard Quinn was the only other score of the half to leave Drumhowan ahead by the minimum 0-4 to 0-3 at half time.
The 2nd half opened slowly with both sides missing scoring opportunities especially the Threemilehouse outfit. The first score of the half was a converted penalty in the 9th minute by Joseph Duffy after the Seans goalkeeper had pulled down a Drumhowan forward. The Seans keeper left the pitch for 10 minutes as a result of the black card but in this period Seans got 2 unanswered points before a 16th minute free from Aiden Quinn left a goal in once again. This proved to be Drumhowan’s last score and while Sean Mc Dermotts got another two points they couldn’t get the necessary score to level it in the last 10 minutes and as a result Drumhowan captured their first league points of the 2024 Eurotech Junior Football League. Full time score Drumhowan 1-5 Sean Mc Dermotts 0-7.
Next game in the league is away to the other relegated team from 2023 Toome which at this stage is scheduled for Saturday 27th April.
