Happy New Year
Wishing all our supporters, volunteers, players, sponsors, coaches and committees a happy, safe and healthy new year. Hopefully things will brighten up and improve in 2022 and we all can return to a more normal way of living and visiting people.
Vehicle Run
On Sunday last we ran a very successful Vehicle Run in aid of our car park development. We had a brilliant turnout of almost 200 tractors both large and small, Trucks, Vintage cars and Bikes. Big thanks to all who took part and all those who helped out in various roles on the day. Thanks to everyone who donated spot prizes for the raffle. Special mention to Gerard Mc Quillan for his help in organising the event.
Every Step Counts
We are back with MyLife’s latest challenge in partnership with the GAA Community & Health department Every Step Counts 2022. This challenge is in support of GAA club and community members taking part in Ireland Lights Up 2022.We’re asking you and your club mates to track a collective 4,000km over 5 weeks (that’s roughly the distance around Ireland!) between 12th January – 16th February to be entered into a prize draw.To take part simply download the MyLife app, Select Ulster Gaa, Leader Board and then join Drumhowan and get your device synced.
Seniors – Tony Collins will continue on as team manager and coach for the season ahead along with selectors Martin Mc Elearney and Anthony Brennan. We wish them and the players well for the upcoming season as they look to build on the progress of 2021.
Juveniles – Our coaches ask that players continue to do their strength and flexibility programs at home that they were doing before Christmas in advance of the new season starting up.
Mc Kenna Cup – Monaghan seniors get their season up and running this week away to Derry Friday night and at home to Fermanagh next Sunday in Clones at 1.30pm. Tickets for these games must now be bought online in advance.
Late John Denis Lennon
Just a few days before Christmas the parish was rocked with the news of the untimely death of John Lennon Tullycorbett.
John played with both Tullycorbett and St Pats minors at juvenile level. He was a member of the Tullycorbett 1983 U13 Mc Grane Cup winning team and the St Pats Div 1 Minor Championship winning team of 1987.
Only back in September this year John was a proud Dad in Ballybay as his son Joseph was a key member of our U13 shield winning team.
John was a very active worker in the redevelopment and upgrade of Tullycorbett hall over the past two decades along with other projects around the churches in the parish.
There was a huge turnout at his funeral on St Stephen’s day which was testament to the high esteem in which he was held. The road was lined with people from his home to the church and Guards of honor were provided by the Tullycorbet Hall committee ,his work colleagues at the council and by our Club.
We extend our most sincere & heartfelt sympathies to John’s wife Moya, daughters Katie, Aoife & Shauna, son Joseph, mother Cassie, sisters Mary & Martina, brothers Hugh-Joe & Seamus and extended family.
May John Denis Lennon rest in peace.
