Cormac Duffy nominated for 2020 Translink Young GAA Volunteer of the Year!

In the past few days it has been announced  that our Coaching Officer Cormac Duffy is one of only 2 Monaghan nominees for the 2020  Translink Young GAA Volunteer of the Year.  We as a club  are extremely proud. Please see below the reasons for his nomination

Cormac is entering his fifth year as Coaching Officer within the Drumhowan GAA club.
However that is only the beginning of what he does around the club. He makes coaches aware of courses being held on a county or provincial basis. Over the last four years he also has been actively involved in coaching various underage teams while being a student in Carlow even though in the last year this has been remotely in Drumhowan.

In the past year he was one of the coaches on  the  U15, U13 and U11 squads. The children look up to him with his quiet and gentle nature. He is also the reserve team goalkeeper and also on occasion plays in goals for the senior team.

Since the pandemic has started he has taken part in the club’s charity Pieta Run last May and then when the club was reopening after the first lock down he along with other club members was down at the field and centre strimming and painting getting the place ready.

Even in 2021 he has been involved apart from getting ready for the coaching season as he is part of the 90 club members walking and running around the roads as part of the Every Step Counts Challenge.

Cormac is a very worthy nominee for the Translink Young GAA Volunteer of the Year Award.
