Universal Graphics JFC – Drumhowan 0-14 Scotstown 2-12 The As made a disappointing exit from the championship last Friday night the 24th of August in Emyvale under lights. To put it simply they didn’t play up to the standard they had in the previous league games. Drumhowan opened the game brightly in the first minute with a point from Mark Mc Cabe and in the first quarter Liam Mc Guirk, Kevin Mooney and Kieran Mc Elroy got on the scoreboard to leave Drumhowan ahead 0-7 to 0-4 after 17 minutes. All Scotstown’s scores at this stage had come from frees. However they then scored 1-4 without reply the goal coming from Jason Mc Carey and three of the points from frees. Mark Mc Cabe pointed a free just before the half time whistle to leave it Drumhowan 0-8 Scotstown 1-8 at the break.
Scotstown started the 2nd half with 2 points in the first 5 minutes to extend their lead out to 5 points. Drumhowan by this stage had introduced Aidan Duffy, Kieran Mooney and Ciaran Duffy as subs. It wasn’t till the 13th minute of the half that Liam Mc Guirk got a point. Drumhowan in the next 10 minutes scored 4 points to draw level 0-13 to 1-10 and at this stage with 7 minutes of normal time remaining seemed destined to secure victory. However Scotstown had other ideas with Matthew Maguire getting a point from a free after a 20 minute baron spell from the north Monaghan side. Within the minute after another mistake from a Drumhowan player when in attack Scotstown raced down the field and James Corley finished off the move with a well taken goal. Mark Treanor was to inflict further misery on Drumhowan to extend Scotstown’s lead to 5 going into injury time before Kevin Mooney closed the scoring to leave the full time score Drumhowan 0-14 Scotstown 2-12

Under 11 The Under 11 team took part in the Monaghan Harps tournament last Saturday 25th August. The team were placed in a group along with Scotstown, Mullahoran and Oram. In the first 2 matches the team took on both Scotstown and Mullahoran and despite being under severe pressure in both matches, showed great determination in both matches to hang on in there – Remarkably in both matches we scored a goal with the last kick of the ball to win both games by a point . The two goals were scored by Darragh Mc Adam v Scotstown and Feargal Quinn v Mullahoran. This left the team in the cup section even though they lost to Oram in the last group game. In the quarter final they were up against Cavan kingpins Cavan Gaels and although they battled bravely the Cavan Boys had the stronger team and ended up as beaten finalists. Thanks to Monaghan Harps for the invite and hospitality on the day and well done to the panel of players . Then on Wednesday 22nd of August the team also took on Doohamlet in the final round of the Gr8 Liam Stirrat Development League. Congratulations to Óisin Quinn who the skilful player award.
