Eurotech Junior Football League – Drumhowan 2-13 Aghabog 4-8
Drumhowan took on Aghabog away in Round 10 of the Eurotech Junior Football League last Saturday the 16th of June. Drumhowan started brightly with a goal from Aidan Duffy. However Aghabog responded quickly with a goal of their own. Further points from Aidan Duffy and Kieran Mooney left 2 points in it after 15 minutes. Drumhowan then had their best period of the game scoring 1-5 to Aghabog’s solitary point with another goal coming from Aidan Duffy. This left the half time score Drumhowan 2-8 Aghabog 1-3..Aghabog opened the 3rd quarter well scoring 1-3 before Ciaran Duffy got one point back. With 5 minutes left Aghabog scored a goal to leave only a point in it. Drumhowan then kicked 2 points to leave a goal in it going into the last minute. However Aghabog finished strongly with 1-1 to take the lead for the first time and try as they may Drumhowan couldn’t score to equalise. This therefore means Drumhowan must beat Rockcorry (this game took place last night Wednesday the 20th of June) and Oram to secure a place in the Cup section of the league. Platinum Tanks RFL Division 2 A – Drumhowan 1-12 Ballybay 5-12 Last Wednesday 13th June Drumhowan took on fellow parishioners Ballybay in Pearse Park. In the opening quarter Ballybay raced into an early lead but Drumhowan fought back in the 2nd quarter to leave the half time score Drumhowan 0-6 to 0-8 . Ballybay opened the 2nd half brightly scoring a goal and a few points but Drumhowan replied with a goal of their own from Kieran Mooney to leave not much in. However two quick goals mid way during the half finished the game as a contest. Then on the stroke of full time another goal from Ballybay left 4 goals in a game that was much closer than the full time scoreline would suggest. Gerry’s Prepared Veg Under 13 Div 2 Championship Final . All roads lead to Doohamlet on this Sunday evening for a 6.30pm start where we take on Clontibret for championship honours. Little has separated these two teams over the past number of seasons so a closely contested game is in store. Best of luck to the panel of players and the management team of Donal, Aidan, Brendan and Cormac. We would ask all club members to go along the support the team on the night and to wear your club colours. There will be a five euro admission charge that goes to Monaghan Gaa Coaching and Games. For those who can’t make it the game will be tweeted score by score on Monaghan GAA Twitter.
Manor Farm U15 Division 3 The U15s played away to Inniskeen last night, Wednesday 20th at 7.30pm and next Thursday 28th are at home to Corduff also at 7.30pm
Gerry’s Prepared Veg U13 League Div 2 Drumhowan 7-14 Scotstown 3-11 The U13s had a good win over Scotstown on Thursday evening last. This now means they will be in the top four round robin league along with Donaghmoyne, Magheracloone and Aghabog so some tough games in prospect. The first of these games are scheduled for Saturday 30th June.
Gr 8 Entertainment U11 Liam Stirrat Development League – This team plays away to Magheracloone at 7.15 on Wednesday 27th June in their first game in the League. Good luck to all the boys and girls.
Monaghan Co. Council Go Games – Last Saturday the 16th of June the club hosted a double Go Games Blitz for Under 7 and Under 9. We welcomed teams from Latton, Truagh, Currin ,Aghabog along with ourselves. Both pitches were flat out with games all morning and despite the odd shower spirits remained high with all teams. Thanks to all who helped on the day and to the ladies who provided refreshments in the centre. Special thanks to Tara Quinn who organised all the fixtures and the teams attending. Next Blitz for Under 7s is in Clones on 21st July.

Congratulations to Jamie Hughes who had great success at the Special Olympics Ireland Games last weekend in Dublin Jamie won Gold in the 4 x 25m relay, got a 5th place ribbon in 25m freestyle and also a 6th place ribbon in backstroke.
