Universal Graphics JFC Round 3B – Drumhowan Senior exited the championship last Friday night the 2nd of September when they fell just short against Clones. As a result they will remain Junior for 2017- the first time they have remained in the same division in consecutive seasons since 2005-06. Drumhowan open brightly, the first two scores from frees by Colm Lambe. Clones then picked up the tempo and kicked 4 points without reply but Drumhowan then turned the tables and hit 5 on the trot the scores coming from Owen Quinn, Ciaran Duffy, Kieran Mooney and Colm Lambe to leave Drumhowan 3 points ahead in the 19th minute.However in the remaining time before half time Clones then kicked 5 unanswered to leave the Half Time Score Drumhowan 0-7 Clones 0-9 .
Clones opened the 2nd half scoring to go 3 points ahead but Drumhowan then kicked a goal and a point by Owen Quinn and Kieran Mc Elroy to go a point ahead but Clones were back on level terms in the 10th minute. They soon went 4 points ahead with the goal scored. Tried as they main Drumhowan never could get in front coming to within a point, in the 59 minute with an Owen Quinn point. Sarto Quigley then put Clones 2 points in front in the 63rd minute but Drumhowan got a free and Colm Lambe decided to put it over the bar on the assumption there was more time to be added. However the final whistle was blown in the resulting kick out with Clones emerging victors on the full time score Clones 1-14 Drumhowan 1-13

Connolly Meats MFL Division 1 Shield Final –Clontibret 2-13 St. Patrick’s 3-8. The minor final took place last Tuesday the 30th of August.St Patrick’s got off to much the better start and they had 1-4 on the board in the opening 10 minutes, and might have had a couple more, 1-3 coming from the boot of top scorer Shane Monaghan, the other point by Owen Quinn, It took Clontibret 20 minutes to get off the mark with a point from a free by Dara Hughes and they went on then to add 3 more in quick succession from Michael Savage, Dean McGuigan and substitute Cian Coyle with what was the final score of the 1st half, although there were goalmouth scrambles at both ends before the short whistle, with St Patrick’s 3 points to the good at the break, 1-4 to 0-4.Clontibret got off to a great start to the second-half and within 7 minutes they had not only wiped out that 3 points half-time deficit but had taken a 2 points lead, hitting 1-2 without reply. 4 minutes later though St Patrick’s were back in front when Colm Lennon converted a penalty for a foul on Niall Duffy. Dara Hughes equalised for Clontibret from a free with Shane Monaghan restoring St Patrick’s to the lead with a point from a free in the 15th minute and the game now very finely balanced entering the final quarter. A goal put the O’Neills 3 points in front after 17 minutes but 5 minutes later St Patrick’s had it back to the minimum with 2 points by Shane Monaghan. With 5 minutes of normal time remaining Dara Hughes converted a free to put Clontibret 2 in front but within a minute St Patrick’s were back in the lead by a point with a goal by Daniel Caraher, Darragh Drury the provider. Clontibret responded emphatically though to register 3 quick fire points to go 2 in front in the final minute of normal time. St Patrick’s pulled back a point from a free through Shane Monaghan a minute into stoppage time as the tension built with Clontibret then cancelling that out with a point from a free by Dara Hughes to go 2 in front 2 minutes later. Gerry’s Prepared Veg U14 Division 3 – The league final v Aughnamullen has not been officially fixed yet but will be at least another 2 weeks away. Training continues as normal on Thursdays and Mondays.
Gerry’s Prepared Veg U12 Division 3 Cup Final – The week finished with a third loss when the U12s were defeated by Cremartin 4-10 to 3-5 in Blackhill last Saturday the 3rd of September.. Drumhowan opened the scoring with a point from Tom Doherty. Cremartin then got off the mark scoring a goal and a point but Drumhowan quickly replied with a goal and a point from Martin Quinn and a Tristan Duffy point to leave Drumhowan a point mid way though the 1st half. That was as good as it got as Cremartin scored a goal and a point before Jason Clarke getting a point to leave the score 2-4 to 1-4 in favour of the Shamrocks at half time.The non competitive period then followed and all other panel members got the opportunity to put one over Cremartin.Cremartin then opened the scoring in the second half with a point and Drumhowan had to wait to the 4th minute to get a Ciaran Keenan free. However Drumhowan suffered a hammer blow in the 12th and 13th minute when Cremartin scored 2 goals within a minute to leave the game beyond their reach. U11 – The U11s will be taking part in the annual BC Tournament in Emyvale on Saturday 17th September. This has always been an enjoyable day out so keep this date free in the diary.
U10 – Final Go games Blitz in Donaghmoyne on Saturday 24th. Our own tournament will take place in early October possibly on October 8th so watch this space for more details.
U8 – The u8s have theirr final Go Games Blitz on this Saturday morning in Donaghmoyne. All players should be up there for 9.40am and it will be over around 11.45am.
U6/8 Training for these teams will finish up next Monday evening September 12th. Thanks to all the players for their great effort over the season and keep practising over the Winter months. A special thanks to coaches Catherine O Neill and Tara Quinn for all their time and effort in coaching the children all year.
Monday training next week for all teams starts at earlier time of 6.45pm and it will be over at 7-50pm.
Maguire International MFC Division 2 Final between Na Mullaí Sarsfields and Carrick will take place in Páirc Mhic Eoin this Sunday 11th September. Help needed for 12 noon.
All Ireland Hurling Ticket Winners – The four Friends of Drumhowan winners who won the tickets were Gerry Woods, Mark Duffy, Colm Lambe and Noel Duffy.
Breakfast Morning – the breakfast morning for local cancer charities will take place on Sunday 18th of September from 9.30am to 1.30pm.
Meeting– Executive Meeting will take place this Thursday 8th of September at 9pm.
