Platinum Tanks RFL Div 2A – Drumhowan have a home against Éire Óg next Wednesday 10th June at 8pm
Gerry’s Prepared Veg U14 Div 2 Truagh 5-11 Drumhowan 4-10. We suffered a 4pt defeat away to Truagh on Tuesday evening last. Despite the result this was a good performance by the boys and let’s hope they can build on it for the remainder of the season. Next up is a home game v Maghercloone on this Saturday 6th June at noon.
Gerry’s Prepared Veg U12 Div 2 Truagh 2-14 Drumhowan 4-7. Again we went under away to Truagh on bank holiday Monday by a point. Despite a hatrick of goals by Ciaran Keenan we were unable to grab a draw near the end. This was a game of two halfs as driving wind and rain left it very difficult to play against the conditions. With the elements in their backs Truagh set about reducing their half time 8 point defecit and Drumhowan struggled to get out of their own half. Despite some heroic defending we couldn’t manage to hold out long enough. Well done to all our players on a spirited display and we get back to training on Thursday night. Next up is an away game to Clones on Saturday 13th June at noon.

Super Valu Super Family – (kindly sponsored by Mc Mahon’s Super Valu, Castleblayney ) takes place as part of the family Fun Day on Sunday June 14th It’s a competition of not just simply of physical endurance, but rather a series of more broadly-based tests with a really wide range of skills involved, not least the skill of having fun and being a little foolish.
The competition itself will have six tests for each family: ‘Who or what?’ a recognition quiz with twenty pictures to identify; a special welly throwing test where accuracy and distance are combined; a time trial with sack, wheelbarrow and bike race rolled into one; an assembly job the details of which are still being worked out; a ‘Guess ‘ game where contestants guess or estimate weights, numbers etc.; and finally a water game called ‘A Hole in the Bucket’ which naturally features a bucket or buckets with holes. There is a great mix of skills involved in these games, but it is strongly advised that teams should all be over sixteen to maximise the chances of success.
This competition will take a lot of setting up, so the organisers will need to know in advance how many families will be taking part, therefore there has to be a last day for entries, which is Tuesday the 9th of June. If you have any queries about what constitutes a family for the purposes of the competition contact Noel at 086-1931933 (e-mail noelduffy77@gmail.com ) or Tommy at 042-9745023 email tommymcardle@eircom.net . They will clarify whether the family proposed is OK within the rules and will send out entry forms. Entry for a team is €30 payable with the entry form. This will also cover the cost of admission to the venue on the day. Full details are available atwww.facebook.com/DrumhowanGAA
