Monaghan Electrical IFL – This Saturday 19th September in a change to the schedule Drumhowan will take on Corduff in Drumhowan at 5.30pm
U11 Emyvale BC Tournament. The Club have been invited to take part in this competition this Saturday morning. All players should be in Emyvale for 9.20am. Please take all gear including hoodie, gum shield and gloves.
U10 Gowna Tournament. The U10s set off to Cavan shortly after 8am on Saturday morning last to take part in this highly rated 24 team event. They were placed in an all Cavan group of Ramor, Butlersbridge and Baileboro. The team performed well in these three games winning with a bit to spare in them all. This left us through to the Cup Quarter Finals where we had to move venue up to Colmcilles in Longford. After an open draw we were paired with Westmeath kingpins Mullingar Shamrocks in the quarter final. After what was a brilliant display of score taking with some long range points we emerged with the win. In the semi final we were up against another Cavan side Mullahoran. The game against Mullahoran was a very competitive affair with both sides defending well and counter attacking at pace. At half time the teams were still deadlocked at 0-4 to 1-1. In the second period both teams were in front at different stages before a goal with 2 minutes left gave Mullahoran the victory on a score line of 2-4 to 1-5. However the team can hold their heads high after excellent and whole hearted performances all day. It was a tired group of players and management who returned back home at 5pm on Saturday evening. Thanks to our hosts Gowna on a well ran and enjoyable days football and social occasion.
U10 Drumhowan tournament The club will be holding a tournament on Saturday morning October 3rd. We will be looking help on the day in order to run the event smoothly and to cater for the teams coming.
Monday training starts now at earlier time of 6.45pm to 7.45pm for Under 8/10/12 teams. This will finish up in about 2 weeks time.
Under 6 – Training for this age group has now finished for the season. Thanks to Lorraine Maguire, Grainne Duffy, Patrick Duffy and Mark Duffy who gave up so much time and effort to look after this age group all year. Also on some other nights some parents also helped out so thanks for that.
Good Luck to David Barry who along with the rest of his family – Derek, Sharon and Kevin, emigrates to just outside New York at the end of this week,. On Monday last the 14th of September he got a good send off from his team mates. After training David was presented with a Drumhowan Hoodie. Hopefully he will get a team to play with in the US and you never know we may see him in the saffron and blue in years to come yet,
Thanks – to those who helped out with the U14 finals in Drumhowan last Saturday.
