Scór na nÓg

Scór na nÓg County Final was held in Corcaghan Community Centre on Friday night last.  Drumhowan GAA was represented in 6 competitions and emerged County winners in 3 of them.  Congratulations to the winners: Musical Group (Colm Mc Mahon, Stephen Mc Mahon, Eimear Quinn, Conor Quinn, Finbar Brennan), Set Dancing (Aine Grogan, Christina Sherry, Megan Treanor, Sinead Grogan, Angie Mc Guirk, Orlaith Brennan, Lauren Duffy, Blinne Treanor) and Quiz Team (Stephen & Colm Mc Mahon, Patrick Duffy) who now go forward to represent the Club in the Ulster Semi Final in Clontibret on Saturday night next, 3 December at 7 p.m.  

Hard luck to the other competitors who excelled in their performances but were not given the judges nod on the night (Figure Dancing – Angie Mc Guirk, Lorna Mc Guirk, Christina Sherry, Aine Grogan, Sinead Grogan, Cait Brennan; Recitation – Patrick Duffy and Novelty Act – Cait Brennan, Christina Sherry, Finbar Brennan, Blinne Treanor, Ryan Duffy, Daniel Tomany, Colm Mc Mahon, Aine Grogan).   

In addition to winning 3 County Titles, Drumhowan GFC was also presented on the night with an award for Best Club, which recognises participation and success in Scór na nÓg competitions.  Cultural Officer, Pauline Grogan, was delighted to accept the award on behalf of Drumhowan GAA and all the competitors and their trainers who had worked very hard in rehearsing and preparing for the competitions.  The County medals and Best Club Award make it all worthwhile.   Meanwhile, it’s back to practising for the Ulster semi Final.  All support welcome in Clontibret on Saturday night next, 3 December at 7 p.m.

 Christmas Social Night – will take place on Saturday night 10th December in Drumhowan Community Centre at 8.30pm. All players, members and non members are welcome. Music and food will be provided. Please spread the word.

 Sympathy – Drumhowan GAA offer sympathy to the relatives of the late  Mary Mc Caffery (nee Hughes) Scotstown formerly  of Mullacrock, Ballybay and Sister Fidelis – aunt of Michael Mooney Drumlane.

 Congratulations to Colm and Áine Lambe on the birth of their son Max Patrick.

 November Meeting – Last Thursday Donal Mc Adam was appointed as Coaching Officer for 2012

 New PRO – at the same meeting Megan Finnegan was appointed the new PRO.  If you need to include news in the notes or on the website please email her at pro.drumhowan.monaghan@gaa.ie  or alternatively at 086 – 2247119 by Monday evening.

 Children’s Officer – the club are still seeking a children’s officer. If you are interested or know anyone that is please contact Noel Duffy

 

 Do you own Second Hand Gym equipment?

Do you have any exercise equipment that’s gathering dust or just being used as a clothes hanger! Any equipment that you don’t use anymore or as much as you used to? Would you like to find a better home for it ?If so, the club would be delighted to hear from you and we’ll make sure it’s put to good use. So if you own anything from a treadmill, rowing machine, exercise bike, to free weights, medicine balls, skipping ropes etc please contact Donal Mc Adam or  any committee member and we’ll gladly free up some space for you
