Club Notes 26/9/17

Gerry’s Prepared Veg U12 Division 2 Cup Final Drumhowan: 3-9 (18) Truagh Gaels: 5-6 (21) Oh so Close – The U12 s were narrowly defeated by Truagh last Saturday 23rd September 2017. Thanks to the everyone who helped out though the year especially the management. Please see match report below thanks to Ciara Mc Adam.

Truagh opened the game with a point in the 7th minute followed by a free with resulted in another point for Truagh. 2 minutes later Drumhowan got a goal from Martin Quinn followed by another quick goal from Jason Clarke. Truagh got the ball and went up and scored a point in the 11th minute. This was also followed by a goal from Truagh in the 12th minute. 1 minute later Tristan Duffy got the ball and ended up getting a goal (13th min). Truagh replied with this with a goal a couple of seconds later. Last point of the first half was scored by Jason Clarke in the 15th minute.

Once again Truagh opened the second half with a goal 2 minutes in. Killian McAdam got a free and scored a point in the 4th minute. Truagh replied with a goal and a point in the 5th minute and then another point in the 8th minute. Drumhowan then got points from Killian McAdam in the 8th minute, Jason Clarke in the 9th minute, Tristan Duffy in the 12th minute, Jason Clarke in the 13th minute, a point each from Killian McAdam and Tom Doherty in the 14th minute and a point from Killian McAdam in the 15th minute. Truagh replied with a point in the 17th minute which brought the game to a tie. Truagh scored a winning goal in the 21st minute which brought them 3 points up to win the game.

Eurotech JFL – The seniors continued their miserable season with a  3-17 to 3-8  away defeat to Éire Óg last Saturday 23rd September. With three games left the next league game home to Rockcorry on Saturday 5th  October.

 

U10 Dan Markey Tournament – This Saturday Sept 30th we host our 3rd annual eight team Under 10 tournament. We have Killoe from Longford , Butlersbridge from Cavan along with 5 other local clubs from Monaghan. The first matches throw in at 10.30am and it will finish up around 1.30pm. We will be looking help both in the kitchen and out around the pitches in order to run the event smoothly. Anyone who can bake or supply food , sandwiches or snacks would be appreciated. Our U10 players should be at the pitch for 10am.

Juvenile Training – Our U14/12/10 teams had their last session of the season on Monday evening. Thanks to all the players for their dedication all season, their parents for taking them up and encouraging them to play Gaelic games and especially to all our coaches who give up their time freely to look after the various teams. Remember to keep practicing the basic skills over the winter months and to stay active.

Monaghan Sports Partnership is now offering one evening basic Sports First Aid workshop to assist Sports Clubs in the county to provide a safe environment for those participating in sport. This course has an emphasis on dealing with minor sports injuries. This takes place in Castleblayney Enterprise Centre on Tuesday 24th October.

Sympathy   to our senior coach David Mc Gregor on the death of his mother Susan  who died last Wednesday 20th September. Sympathy is also extended to the O’ Neill Family Clogher on the death of Mary Nolan, Foulksmills, Wexford  who was a  sister of Martin. May both ladies  rest in peace.
