EUROTECH JUNIOR FOOTBALL LEAGUE SHIELD FINAL – Aghabog 2-12, Drumhowan 1-13

Two late points, saw Aghabog snatch victory over Drumhowan at the end of this entertaining and very evenly contested Junior football league shield final that was played in Cremartin on Saturday afternoon last the 22nd of October. This was a game that was in the balance all through with little more than a couple of points separating the sides at any stage although Drumhowan did lead by 7 after 11 minutes – the goal coming from Ciarán Duffy but once Aghabog settled they played some very purposeful football in a game where the sides were level 7 times in all and the lead changed hands on 8 occasions. Aghabog led by a single point at half-time, 2-5 to 1-7, coming from being 7 in arrears after 11 minutes, 2 goals in the 13th and 17th minutes by Sean O’Brien and Tyler O’Hanlon respectively crucial scores in that turnaround.

In the second-half it was a real seesaw affair as  the ball went from end to end and while both sides missed chances and committed errors neither could be faulted for the  endeavour that they displayed in a game that was contested in very good spirit throughout. Drumhowan held a narrow lead on 4 occasions in the second-half with Aghabog drawing level with 8 minutes of normal time remaining and then striking for victory with 2 late points as well as denying Drumhowan on a couple of occasions to hold out for victory and become the first winners of this new trophy – The Dartrey Cup
