Gerry’s Prepared Veg U13 Division 2 Cup Final     Pride of place  this week goes to  the U13 team who secured the double Drumhowan 5-14 Magheracloone 2-7
Drumhowan secured the U13 Division 2 Double in St. Victors Park, Toome  last Saturday 11th August when they overcame a determined Magheracloone side who really put it up to the mid Monaghan side in the first half. Drumhowan opened the scoring with two points from Tom Doherty  one from play and another from a placed ball. Magheracloone replied with a point from Shane Mc Mahon . Drumhowan then hit three points without reply  but the south Monaghan side   hit  2-2  within a 5 minute spell  the goals coming from Joe Burns  and Michael Carroll to go three points ahead with ten minutes left in the half. That was as good as it got for Magheracloone as Jason Clarke hit 1-2 with the points coming from frees  to leave Drumhowan just ahead   1-8 to 2-3 at half time.
Drumhowan started in whirlwind fashion at the beginning of the second half scoring 1-3 in the first few minutes . Magheracloone then put  the Geraldines under severe pressure but all they got from it due to great defending was a free from captain Patrick Doogan before Jason Clarke hit another point.  Magheracloone were  on top during the half way point of the half but despite a lot of possession only hit two points. Drumhowan then took over in the last five minutes of the game with three goals coming from Killian Mc Adam, sub Evan Treanor and  captain Jonathan Lavelle. Half back Conor Curran then kicked a point two minutes into injury time to close the  scoring  with Drumhowan winning on a  5-14 to 2-7  scoreline and so secure a Division 2 Double for  the first time in the club’s history
