Club Notes 13/3/18
OsKaRs   – preparations for April 7th continue  at great pace. Rehearsals continue behind closed doors. Fundraising  events were plentiful last weekend First event of the weekend  was the table quiz held by Jamie Hughes. This took place in the Ballybay Inn  (Pat O ‘ Brien’s ) last Friday 9th March at 8pm.  The place was  full to the rafters. Then on  Sunday 11th March Cillian Mc Aviney, Paul Finlay, Stephen Drury and Ashley White held  a 5k  fun run from Ballybay Pearse Park. Over 150 runners were in attendance – young and old.  The in Mulligan’s Yard Anthony Mulligan held his fundraiser. They were kept going from 10 to  3 with over 70 vehicles washed. Thanks to all those  who organised and contributed to all  the events. Declan Savage and Ciaran Duffy also are holding a fundraising raffle of sporting memorabilia. Platinum Tanks RFL Division 2A – The B’s started their season with a handsome win over near neighbours Blackhill on Saturday last at Emerald Park.  They started the opening quarter well with some of the points coming from Michael Atkinson, Colm Lambe and Micheal Duffy  to leave the score 4 points to 1.   The second quarter proved to be a more cagey affair with another 3 scorers getting on the board this time from Niall Mooney, Tom and Liam Mc Guirk with  Blackhill replying with a solitary point to leave the half time score Drumhowan 0-7  Blackhill 0- 2.                                     In the 2nd half the team continued to score points  with some of them coming  from  Niall and Damien Mooney with Micheal Duffy adding to his first half score.​  With only a few minutes left Drumhowan led by 0-16 to 0-5  but Blackhill scored a goal and a point to stage a mini revival but Drumhowan finished the scoring to leave 8 points in it at the end.  Full time score Drumhowan 0-17 Blackhill 1- 6.  A good start for the team under the management of Martin Duffy, Shane Mc Cabe and Trevor Treanor. Next game  is on St. Patrick’s  Day with Doohamlet  the visitors to Mc Keown Park with a  12  noon start

Eurotech Junior Football League  – the Seniors  now have another while to wait before their campaign throws in on Saturday 31st of March with an away trip to Éire Óg  with a throw in time of 5pm. This year there are 12 Junior Teams with Scotstown, Corduff and Truagh also entering teams. This means each team will play each other once before splitting into a cup and shield with 6 teams in each. 
 
U13 -15  –  Training next week  is on both Tuesday and Thursday evening at 7pm on the pitch. The first U13 game is on in Aghabog on Saturday 24th of March.  U15s will possibly commence the following Thursday evening.
U11 First game takes place in Ballybay on Saturday March 31st.  All players are asked to attend training next week on both Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm
U9  –  Indoor Blitz took place last Saturday in Ballybay Recreation Centre. Our team competed well and enjoyed the morning’s football. Another blitz will take place on Saturday 24th March.
U6 & U7  – no training this week due to St. Patrick’s Day. It  will commence the following Saturday
Player’s Membership –  before the playing season commences all adult players must pay their Friends of Drumhowan Membership. This can be done in one amount or monthly by direct debit.
